🌟 Attention Toddler Parents 🌟
Learn how to fast-track your child's progress at home with simple, effective strategies that you can start using today.

The Say More System is an online course that shows you how to get your toddler talking using the routines already built into your day. It’s the perfect way to jumpstart progress (if you're waiting for services to begin) or fast-track therapy (if your child is already receiving services), by knowing exactly what to do at home for better carryover. By the end of this program, you will have a clear and simple plan to get your toddler using words more consistently within your daily interactions.

🍂 Fall Speech Focus: “Slow It Down to Spark More Words”
October brings excitement, changes in weather, and lots of language opportunities! One of the best ways to encourage more talking? Slow down your pace.
Try this:
🗣 Pause after you say something… then wait.
⏸ Count to 5 in your head if needed!
Kids often need time to process, plan, and respond—and that quiet moment can be the spark that leads to a new word or phrase.
🐾 Ralphie’s Reminder
Fall routines are full of repeatable moments! Ralphie’s favorite? Putting on his Halloween bandana 👻
Use predictable phrases like:
🧥 “Brrr, where's coat? Go outside.”
🥿 “Socks on… shoes on... let's go!”
Repetition + routine = learning opportunities
📚 Literacy Corner
🔤 Early Sprouts (PreK–K Pre-Literacy):
Pumpkin Letter Toss
Write letters on mini pumpkins (or orange sticky notes). Scatter them around the room or yard.
Call out a letter or sound: “Find the one that says /b/!”
Your child runs to grab it and says the sound or word.
🏃♂️ Builds sound awareness and movement-based learning.
📖 Reading Quest (1st Grade & Up Literacy Idea):
Spooky Story Sequencing
Read a short Halloween-themed book and talk through what happened first, next, then last.
Have your child draw the scenes or act them out!
This builds story structure, memory, and expressive language.
📘 Word Wizards (Advanced Readers):
Monster Word Makeover
Challenge your child to take “boring” Halloween words and level them up.
Example: “Scary” → “Terrifying” → “Bone-chilling”
Great for expanding vocabulary and descriptive writing.
🎨 Speechy + Simple: Activity of the Month
Mystery Cauldron Game
Place small seasonal items (real or picture cards) inside a plastic pumpkin, bag, or bowl. Take turns pulling one out and describing it without showing it.
🗣 “It’s round, orange, and you carve it for Halloween...”
Guess: “Pumpkin!”
💬 After the guess, encourage your child to say the word in a full sentence:
“The pumpkin is big and bumpy!”
✨ Articulation tweak: Choose items that feature your child’s target sound (e.g., /s/ = spider, soup, skeleton; /k/ = candy, costume, cat).

📌 Quick Tip from Amy
Your child doesn’t need more Halloween crafts or Pinterest activities.
They need connection, conversation, and chances to feel heard.
This October, aim for presence over pressure—language thrives in those moments.
Happy Fall!
